Parents Corner
Parents should consider their parenting philosophy and style, as well as their expectations from a school, when contemplating the question of whether Montessori or not Montessori is right for their children. Willingness to embrace the Montessori approach, which may be strikingly different from how they were educated, is imperative. Embracing the approach requires that parents become re-educated to understand the non-competitive, peaceful, hands-on nature of the Montessori experience, and assist in their child’s education by encouraging similar experiences outside of school. Many AMI Montessori schools offer parent education events such as Curriculum nights, Parenting Workshops, and other special events.
